A teenager will face court after he was found in possession of a pair of bolt cutters in the Alice Springs CBD in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A police patrol stopped two young males near the Alice Plaza just before 1am. A 15-year-old youth was arrested and charged after police found a pair of bolt cutters in his backpack. The boy told police he intended using them to repair a friend's car.

He was charged with possession of a breaking implement and will face the Youth Justice Court at a later date.
