Arrest - Indecent Exposure - Tennant Creek

Police

Tennant Creek Police arrested a 63-year-old man today in relation to an indecent exposure incident.

It is alleged the man was at a residence on Ford Crescent with six children aged between 8 and 14-years-old yesterday afternoon, when he is alleged to have exposed himself several times both in and outside the house.

The primary occupant of the residence arrived home a short time later and immediately called police once he was informed of the indecent behaviour.

Police attended the house and arrested the man; he remains in police custody while enquiries are conducted.

Sergeant Glenn Leafe reiterated the importance of personal safety awareness.

"It is important we equip our children with the skills to keep them safe. I commend the children for avoiding the man and notifying an adult they trusted as soon as possible".

"I urge all parents and carers to remain vigilant and keep their children safe at all times"

"Teach your child the four R's:

Recognise the danger
Refuse any offer (say no)
Run away (to somewhere safe)
Report it (straight away or as soon as you can) to the first person they feel safe with, such as a safe adult, teacher or police officer. (If they don't help you keep reporting it until someone helps). This is an effective educational tool as it is easy for children to remember" he said.
