Arrest final offender - CBD assaults

Police

Police have arrested the final offender involved in the aggravated assault of three young girls at the Darwin Bus Interchange earlier this week.

A total of seven youths, aged between 12 and 16, have been apprehended in relation to the assault, as well as a number of other incidents throughout the Darwin and Larrakeyah area on Monday night.

Police apprehended the 16-year-old male offender last night just before midnight on McMinn Street in Darwin City.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said the latest arrest was a good example of police working with the public to get these offenders off our streets.

"NT Police would like to thank the media and members of the public for their assistance in these arrests."

"We are still looking for a woman of Asian appearance wearing a red shirt who walked past the bus exchange and may have witnessed the assault on the young girls.

"This woman may provide valuable information or may have been subject to an assault earlier. It is really important that she come forward not only to provide information but to send a message to these thugs that their behaviour will not be tolerated and the community will not be intimidated by these cowards," he said.
