Arrest for break-ins - Alice Springs

Two men have been arrested following a number of break-ins in Alice Springs overnight.

At around 2am Police received reports that the Memorial Club had been unlawfully entered after offenders forced a rear door. Several bottles of spirits were stolen.

Then just after 4.30am police received a report that Elders on Smith Street had been broken into. Thieves cut their way into the compound before smashing a kitchen window and making off with several bottles of spirits. Two men aged 35 and 32 were arrested after police found them in possession of alcohol near Charles Creek camp a short time later.

Police have reason to believe the pair were responsible for both unlawful entries.

Police also received a report that the canteen at the Traeger Park Oval was unlawfully entered around 9.30pm last night with thieves making off with two cartons of beer.

Then just after 11pm police received a report that the nearby Tennis Centre clubrooms were also unlawfully entered with thieves making off with nine bottles of Strongbow cider and two bottles of wine.
