Arrest - Armed Robbery - Parap

Police

Members of Darwin City Police Station arrested a 30-yr-old female in relation to an armed robbery in Parap yesterday.

At about 8:15am a 49-year-old female was sitting at the Parap Shopping Village when the offender approached her and threatened her with a 20cm knife. The offender then grabbed the victims hand bag and fled the scene down towards Parap Road.

Colleagues of the victim followed the offender to a block of units on Drysdale Street and then contacted Police. Members attended and located the woman hiding in one of the units; she was arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watch House.

All property was recovered.

The offender was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court this morning in relation to armed robbery offences.

Senior Constable Mark Bland "Police commend the actions of victim's colleagues who assisted police with this arrest. This is a great example of the community working with police without placing them selves at risk".
