Arrest - Armed Robbery - Howard Springs

Police

NT Police made a quick arrest this afternoon after a 27-year-old man robbed a rural nursery at gun point earlier in the day.

It is alleged the male attended a nursery on Whitewood Road in Howard Springs and browsed through products for a number of hours before the hold up occurred.

At 2:17 pm the offender is alleged to have produced a firearm and demanded money and bags from staff and customers before fleeing the area in a white utility.

It is believed the man fled with a substantial amount of US currency.

Police immediately commenced a search for the offender involving road blocks in the rural area. Less then three hours later, at 5:00pm, the man was arrested in the Noonamah area and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Detectives will continue enquiries tonight in relation to the whereabouts of the stolen property and firearm and are urging any one who witnessed the robbery to contact them.

Detective Senior Sergeant Len Turner said this was an excellent and timely result for the NT Police.

"The quick actions of NT Police along with the assistance of the public led to this timely arrest".

"Anyone who has further information in relation to the incident or the whereabouts of the stolen property, is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000".

"NT Police strive to keep our community safe and today's arrest is an example of the professional and quick thinking of our officers" he said.
