Police

A 32-year-old woman will appear in court after allegedly driving into a police car following a pursuit.

The woman became involved in the pursuit after she went to a residence in Larapinta Drive just before 4am Saturday morning where she argued with her partner. When he tried to take the keys from her she drove off while he was hanging from the car door. She then allegedly tried to drive over him, in the meantime colliding with a Toyota Hi-Lux parked nearby.

When police arrived the woman drove off leading them on a chase through Gillen until she stopped her Toyota Landcruiser utility in Battarbee Street. Police stopped and got out of their car to walk over to her but the woman reversed her vehicle into the police car trapping one of the Members by the leg. The woman then drove off but was arrested a short time later when she was found hiding in a shed near where she abandoned her car on the corner of Chalmers and Francis Streets.

She has been charged with:
Recklessly endangering life
Two counts of recklessly endangering serious harm
Drive a motor vehicle causing harm or death
Three counts of assaulting police

and several traffic offences.

She has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 23.
