ARP Graduation

The Northern Territory Police Fire and Emergency Services College are proud to announce the Graduation of 12 officers from the Accelerated Recruitment Program (ARP) Squad 109.

The graduation ceremony occurred today at 2pm in the NTPFES College Theatrette at the Peter McAulay Centre in Berrimah.

The ARP Squad 109 have successfully completed 10 weeks of intensive training - consisting of legislation, policy and procedure lectures and assessments, including skills training.

The ARP is designed to encourage experienced constables from other states and territories to join the NTPFES in order to bring a broad base of skills and experience to the Territory.

The officers have also completed studies in the areas of; working in the NTPFES, IT systems, police safety and practice, investigation procedures, intelligence and information, traffic enforcement, drug and property offences, welfare in the community, domestic and family violence.

Acting Police Commissioner Shayne Maines said "Members of Squad 109 bring with them more than 50 years of policing experience and knowledge to the Territory. The Accelerated Recruitment program provides the NT Police with experienced constables who bring with them honesty, integrity and dedication to serving the community.

"I would personally like to congratulate and welcome the members of Squad 109 to the NT Police Force and look forward to the next stage of their career," he said.

9 members of the squad will graduate to the rank of 1/C Constable and 2 members to the rank of Constable.

The 12 graduates will take up duties across the Northern Territory with the majority going to Greater Darwin Region (6), Katherine (2), Tennant Creek (1), and Alice Springs (3)
