Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Nightcliff on Sunday morning.

It is alleged the 51-year-old male victim was assaulted after two unknown males entered his Aralia Street unit at about 2:30am. A brief wrestle ensued before one of the offenders smashed a bottle across the victims head while the second stabbed the man with a kitchen knife in the leg and ankle.

NT Police and Saint John Ambulance attended and treated the victim at the scene. He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The offenders are described as

180cms tall
Blond hair in crew-cut style
Solid build
Wearing an orange shirt

Possibly of Asian appearance
Possibly wearing long pants
