542 Drivers Breath Tested overnight

An overnight operation targeting drink drivers in the Northern Suburbs has resulted in 542 drivers being breath tested.

Police established 3 large Random Breath Test (RBT) stations along Mc Millans Rd, Bagot Rd and the Stuart Highway.

The results of the operation were:

542 drivers breath tested
10 drink drivers apprehended namely:
- 4 x Arrests for drive Medium/High range (0.81%, 0.134%, 0.136%, 0.161%)
- 5 x Summons for Medium Range drink driving
- 1 x Traffic Infringement Notice for Low Range drink driving (0.052%)
42 x Infringements
4 x Defect

Territory Duty Superintendent Bruce Porter said the overnight results were extremely disappointing.

"Out of the 542 drivers tested last night, 1 in 54 of those drivers tested positive to driving under the influence.

"Police will continue to target drink drivers and other unsafe road users in an effort to eliminate risks such as these impaired drivers to increase safety on our roads.

"Police urge all members of the public to remain vigilant and if they witness any suspected drink driving to contact them on 131 444," said Supt Porter.
