Zero tolerance for anti-social behaviour

Police

Operation Unite may be over but police are reminding the public that they will continue in maintaining a zero tolerance policy on drunken violence.

Following on from their efforts over the weekend, police are upholding a strong stance on anti-social behaviour and are disappointed to see that people are still becoming involved in alcohol fuelled violence.

During the early hours of this morning, a 22-year-old male was conveyed to the Royal Darwin Hospital with facial injuries following a fight with another male outside of Uncle Sams Eatery on Smith Street.

In a separate incident only minutes later, a 25-year-old man was assaulted during a fight involving several people outside the Lost Arc night club on Mitchell Street.

Duty Superintendent John Emeny said that the message from police is clear and they will not accept this kind of behaviour.

"Enjoy your night out, drink responsibly and make your way home safely. If you choose to drink to the point of extreme intoxication and become involved in violent activity you will be spending time in Police custody", he said.

Both incidents occurred around 2:45am this morning and police are urging anyone who may have witnessed either one to call them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.nt.crimestoppers.com.au/.
