A 16-year-old youth will face court for an alleged assault on a woman in Tennant Creek last week.
The 52-year-old woman told police she and another woman were walking home along Patterson Street on Friday October 30 when they were confronted by a group of youths who refused to let them pass. She said one of the youths then pushed her to the ground and then kicked her to the chest when she got up again. The two women made their way home and the victim's husband took her to hospital where she was treated for a laceration to her head.
Police investigations led to the apprehension of a 16-year-old boy who will be summonsed. Investigations and the interview of further witnesses continues. Police urge anyone who witnessed this incident and who has not yet been interviewed to contact them in Tennant Creek on 131 444 and quote police incident 4398206.
