Police have charged a 16-year-old male in relation to the sexual assault of a 14-year-old female that occurred in Alice Springs in June last year.

The youth was arrested on Sunday at a remote community outside of Alice Springs and was later charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

He was bailed to appear in Court on 10 February.
