A 14-year-old male was arrested by police yesterday morning for allegedly breaking into a number of cars in Cullen Bay.

Around 2.20 am police received a report from a member of the public in relation to suspicious activity near the Ferry Terminal at Cullen Bay.

Upon further investigations it was revealed four motor vehicles had been interfered with.

Two of the vehicles, a Nissan X - Trail and a Nissan Terano were observed with smashed windows and a Ford Festiva had sustained damage to the driver's side door lock. The offender/s then gained access to a Suzuki Sierra by unclipping the soft top and allegedly stealing a wallet from the glove compartment.

The alleged offender was located hiding in the gardens of Cullen Bay Serviced Apartments. Police confiscated a screw driver, scissors and a wallet before apprehending the youth and conveying him to the Darwin Watch House.
It was later revealed he was allegedly involved in an unlawful entry at the Winnellie Cellars Bottle Shop on 27 December.

The youth was bailed to appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court on 20 January.
