Police have arrested a 44-year-old male in relation to a weapon incident that occurred last night.

It is alleged that police witnessed the male acting suspiciously near the Rapid Creek Shopping Centre and upon searching the 44-year-old, located a sawn off shotgun, two knives, a sum of money and a small quantity of dangerous drugs.

He was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House where he remains in custody, expected to be charged later today with firearm and drugs offences.
