Vehicle Fire – Palmerston - 4432420

Police

Police attended a vehicle fire in Palmerston at approximately 10:15 pm last night after receiving a call from a nearby resident.

A white Toyota Hilux single cab utility was located fully ablaze at Triangle Park in Woodroffe, approximately 150 metres from Chung Wah Terrace.

NT Fire and Rescue personnel attended and extinguished the flames. Initial investigations appear that the fire started in the cabin of the vehicle, which was completely burnt out.

A number of items were located in the vehicle and throughout the surrounding area including a hand axe and a sword approximately 60cm in length.

Further enquires by police were made which resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man who is presently being held in the Darwin Watch House and will be interviewed later today.
