Police are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred in Palmerston around midnight last night.

Police and Fire and Rescue Service members attended the fire on Elrundie Avenue and extinguished the blaze a short time later however the vehicle had been completely destroyed.

It was later established that the vehicle was a cream coloured Holden station wagon that had been stolen from a residence on Smith Street, Darwin City on Saturday 31 January.

Members of the public are being urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if they have any information in relation to this event.
