Vehicle fire – charges

Alice Springs Detectives have arrested and charged a 31-year-old male in relation to a vehicle fire that occurred on 01 February.

It is alleged that the offender attended a residence on Adamson Avenue at approximately 11:30 pm and poured petrol over a Holden Barina Hatchback, before setting it alight and fleeing the area.

Police and Fire and Rescue Service members attended the residence and extinguished the blaze.

The fire completely destroyed the Barina and caused more than $5 000 worth of damage to a vehicle parked next to the car.

He was arrested yesterday and has been charged with:

Attempted arson
Aggravated criminal damage (x2)
Threats to harm.

He was bailed to appear at the Alice Springs Magistrate's Court 26 February.
