At approximately 2.40 this morning police received reports of a vehicle fire on Gap Road in Alice Springs.

Police, Fire and Rescue members attended the scene and located a Daihatsu hatchback, which was fully alight.

Fire services extinguished the blaze within a short time.

It was later established that the vehicle had broken down on Gap Road sometime yesterday and was to be towed at 8am today.
