A 36-year-old woman told police she was walking along Paterson Street around 9.15pm on Wednesday when she was followed by a man who then physically and sexually assaulted her behind the Mobil Service Station.

The male is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, between 15 and 18-years-old with black hair tied in a pony-tail. He was wearing blue denim shorts and a black polo shirt.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the offender. Anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident or who recognises the Comfit should phone police on 131 444.
