Two charged - unlawful entry and stealing

Police

Members of the Commander's Tactical Team have arrested two males aged 16 and 17 in relation to a number of incidents that occurred on Sunday 6 December.

It is alleged that on the evening of 6 December the two males and a co-offender consumed a quantity of alcohol at Tomaris Court before walking to Kahlin Oval and onto the Darwin Cricket Club.

They then unlawfully entered the enclosed verandah of the club and attempted to enter the bar area but were unsuccessful. It is then alleged the trio walked to a residence on Temira Crescent, Larrakeyah and unlawfully entered the premises and removed two mobile phones and a wallet containing a small quantity of cash.

The males then entered another residence on the same street and interfered with two vehicles, a blue Subaru Liberty and a Silver Prado and stole a spare key to the Subaru.

They then walked off and were challenged by the resident of the house. Two of the males ran off towards a school whilst the third male walked along Kirkland Crescent where he was sighted by police.

After a short foot chase he was apprehended with the stolen property allegedly in his possession.

Two of the males have been charged with:

Aggravated enter dwelling with intent
Aggravated enter building with intent
Stealing (x2)

Both were bailed to appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court on 31 December.

"It appears that houses are the current target of unlawful entries and there are precautions that residents can take to deter this type of opportunistic crime, "said Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan.

"Secure all doors and windows and don't leave car keys or other keys or valuables lying around or in obvious places."
