Two arrests – Palmerston

Members of the Youth Crime Unit (YCU) apprehended two males aged 18 and 22 on Friday 15 May in relation to two separate incidents in Palmerston.

It is alleged that at 11:15 pm members were conducting patrols in the Palmerston area when they witnessed an 18-year-old male running from a power box near the intersection of Port Mar Street and Bonson Terrace in Moulden.

Members located the male a short time later, after it was established that he had graffitied the box.

He is summonsed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court at a later date to face charges of unlawfully damage property.

Approximately 20 minutes later, members apprehended a 22-year-old male on Bonson Terrace after witnessing him travelling at speed in a Holden utility.

He was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and returned a breath analysis reading of 0.144 percent.

He is also to be summonsed to appear in court at a later date to face charges of drive medium range blood alcohol content.

Officer in charge of the Youth Crime Unit, Sergeant Jeff Mosel said the Youth Crime Unit have a zero tolerance for criminal behaviour.

"I'd like to remind members of the public that we are out on the streets patrolling 24 hours a day, seven days a week and that law breakers will be located and dealt with accordingly" he said.
