Traffic Pursuit & Drug Seizure

Members of the Tactical Response Section and Special Operation Section yesterday arrested a 43-year-old male in relation to traffic and drug offences.

Police attempted to apprehend the driver of a Harley Davison motorcycle at about 1.34 pm yesterday, a short pursuit commenced after the male failed to comply with police direction. The pursuit ensued from Girraween Road to Pioneer Road in the rural area involving speeds exceeding 100 kilometres per hour.

The man was subjected to a search and about four grams of methamphetamine, a set of digital scales and several unused syringes were located.

As a result, a further search of the man's Jingili residence was executed and a small quantity of cannabis, 84 cannabis seeds and a small amount of methamphetamine was located.

The man has been charged with the following offences:

Fail to comply with Police Officers Direction
Possess Dangerous Drug Trafficable
Supply Dangerous Drug Trafficable
Possess Dangerous Drug - Cannabis
Possess Cannabis seeds
Possess Dangerous Drug.

He was bailed with strict reporting conditions and is due to appear in Darwin Magistrate's Court on 16 April.
