Three arrested for break-ins –Alice Springs

Police have arrested three people in connection with a spate of break-ins in the Alice Springs CBD this week.

A 17-year-old male will face court for allegedly smashing windows at the Outcrop Gallery on the corner of Gregory Terrace and the Todd Mall in the early hours of Sunday February 15. He has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on March 12.

A ten-year-old boy will be summonsed over the same incident as well as a further five break-ins which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The boy and his 12-year-old co-offender allegedly smashed windows at the Outcrop Gallery on Sunday morning and then on Monday night broke into the Red Cross shop, Sylvesters Hairdressing Salon and the Optical Superstore in the Reg Harris Lane. They also allegedly broke into an accountant's office in Leichtodd Plaza and Supercuts Hairdressers in Parsons Street.

Cash and a pair of scissors was stolen from the hairdressers in Reg Harris Lane, while clothing and cash was stolen from the Red Cross Store. A pair of scissors and a razor were also stolen from the Parsons Street hairdressers.

The 10-year-old will be summonsed to appear in the Youth Justice Court at a later date while the 12-year-old will be considered for Youth Diversion.
