Police received two reports of structure fires occurring yesterday between 10:15 am and 3:15 pm.

Volunteer Fire Fighters attended the first fire that occurred at approximately 10:15 am at the Belyuen Community.

They extinguished the blaze a short time later however the residence was completely destroyed.

It was later established that the fire was thought to have started when an occupant of the house dropped a lit cigarette before leaving the premises.

At 3:15 pm police received reports that a shed containing hay and horse equipment was alight after having been struck by lightning.

Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members attended the Andrews Road residence in Humpty Doo, however the dwelling had been destroyed.

No one was injured in either of the blazes.
