Fire fighters fought a blaze for almost three hours at a store in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Police and fire fighters were alerted just after 11:00 am that there was a fire in the roof of Tennant Variety, in Paterson Street Tennant Creek.

All neighbouring shops were evacuated as fire crews fought the blaze. Police closed off Paterson Street for several hours and traffic was diverted around the scene. It is believed the fire was due to an electrical fault. No one was injured in the incident however the building was extensively damaged.
