Police are calling for witnesses in relation to a structure fire that occurred in the early hours of this morning.

At approximately 12:45 am, members were alerted to smoke coming from the window of a unit in Drysdale Street Parap.

Police and NT Fire and Rescue personnel attended, utilising a nearby fire hose to extinguish the blaze located in the lounge room.

No one was present at the residence at the time of the fire and Police and Fire Investigators are yet to determine the cause, however at this stage are treating it as suspicious.

Anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity, or anything out of the ordinary in the Parap area around 12:45 am this morning, is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
