Police were alerted just before 11.30pm after the taxi was stolen when the driver left the keys in the ignition while he went into the shop.

Just before 1am a police patrol noticed the stolen vehicle being driven in Lovegrove Drive. When the driver saw police she sped off losing control of the car and causing it to crash through the front fence of a house. The taxi was extensively damaged.

The female driver fled the scene on foot and a female passenger was arrested and will be interviewed today. Investigations are continuing.
