Alice Springs Police are calling on assistance from the public to find three horses reported stolen last night.

Police received a report just before 4pm yesterday three horses had been stolen from a property east of Alice Springs.

The owner of the horses told police he noticed the horses missing almost three weeks ago and had been searching for them since.

The horses are described as one gelding Australian Stockhorse, chestnut in colour with a white blaze on forehead and white socks.

One reddish brown and white Appaloosa filly with dark legs and brown chest, white spotted rear, a rear white sock, a white star and black tips on the ears.

The third horse also an Appaloosa filly with dark legs, brown chest, white spotted rear, two white socks, white star and distinctive white tips on her ears.

The horses are believed to be worth a total of $4000, none of the horses are branded.

Alice Springs Police watch commander Bob Allen said police were appealing to the public to keep a look out for the horses.

"Police are investigating this case and hope that by appealing to the public we can get further information on where these horses might be or who may have them," said Watch commander Allen

"We're asking people in and around Alice Springs to keep an eye out for horses with these particular markings and hopefully with some success we will be able to track them down."
