STATEMENT FROM FAMILY – MISSING GIRL LAMBELLS LAGOON

Police

"We want to be left alone to grieve over the death of our beautiful daughter Briony Anne Goodsell and the constant contact by certain media outlets is hampering this process - it would be much appreciated if we could be left alone because we want to grieve in our own time.

Briony was a beautiful, innocent and fearless girl who touched the lives of so many people. She always looked out for others and was fondly known as Care Bear.

Kids being kids don't always see possible dangers - no-one is to blame for this tragedy it is just one of those things.

If and when we feel up to talking publicly it will be on our terms and conditions and co-ordinated through NT Police.

We sincerely thank NT Police, Parks and Wildlife Service, neighbours and the local close knit community for their invaluable assistance and support over this very difficult period."

Territory Duty Superintendent Mike Murphy said, "Police are disappointed that some media outlets continue to pursue the family and have ignored my previous requests to respect their privacy during this time.

"Police can confirm the identity of the 11-year-old girl involved in this tragedy is Briony Anne Goodsell."
