A 34-year-old woman will face court today following a stabbing in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Police received a report around midday of a stabbing in Paterson Street Tennant Creek. They found a 37 year old man had received a large stab wound to the arm. He was taken to Tennant Creek hospital and later airlifted to Alice Springs hospital where he underwent surgery.

The alleged offender was disarmed and arrested at the scene by police. She has been charged with Aggravated assault causing serious harm and using a controlled weapon in a public place. She has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Tennant Creek Magistrates court today.

Police are calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward and anyone with information should phone 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
