A 24-year-old man has been charged in relation to the alleged stabbing of a 20-year-old woman that occurred on Thursday 26 March.

At about 10.50 pm police were called to a report of a stabbing at a unit in Shepherd Street, Darwin. General Duties' members attended and located the woman being treated in an ambulance.

It is alleged that a verbal argument broke out between the two which escalated into a physical altercation and the man allegedly stabbed the woman in the stomach with a pair of scissors.

The man was arrested and later charged with assault causing serious injury and bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on 16 April.
