A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed during an altercation
in Alice Springs last night.

Police received a report just after 2am that a man had been stabbed at the YHA in Parsons Street. Police were told that the man got into an argument with another guest at the hostel which resulted in the pair getting into a scuffle.

During the scuffle the victim was stabbed in the lower back with a knife. The victim was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance and the alleged offender was arrested a short time later.

The 31-year-old man remains in custody and will be interviewed later today.
