A woman was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds following an incident at an Alice Springs Town camp last night.

Police received a report just after 11.30pm of an assault at White Gates Camp on Undoolya Road. Police arrived to find a 25-year-old woman suffering from approximately nine stab wounds. The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Police believe the offender was known to the victim and inquiries are continuing as to his whereabouts.
