Single vehicle rollover- Yulara

Police

Police received a report just after midday that a Ford Falcon station wagon with one occupant had overturned and was ablaze.

Police said it appears the 30-year-old male driver overcorrected when he found he had veered onto the wrong side of the road and the vehicle rolled four times.

A passing motorist managed to help the driver from the vehicle before the car burst into flames. It was completely destroyed in the blaze.

The driver - a French national - was medivaced to Alice Springs with suspected spinal injuries.

Police again warn motorists to drive to the conditions and take particular care when driving on unfamiliar roads.

Meanwhile, police received a report of another single vehicle rollover near Yuendumu earlier today. Police received a report around 9am of a single vehicle rollover on the Tanami Highway approximately 50 kilometres from Yuendumu.

Police said it appears the male driver of a Suzuki four-wheel-drive suffered neck injuries when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled twice. He was taken to the Yuendumu health clinic for treatment. No further details are available at this time.
