Two people are in hospital following a single vehicle rollover in Kakadu.

Police received a report just after 10.30am yesterday that a four-wheel-drive Toyota Landcruiser had rolled on the Jim Jim Falls Road after the driver swerved to avoid an on-coming vehicle.

Police and a rescue team from Jabiru attended the crash. A 50-year-old man who was a rear passenger in the car was taken by helicopter to Royal Darwin Hospital and has since been medivaced to Adelaide. A 51-year-old woman who was also a rear seat passenger was taken to the Jabiru clinic and later also medivaced to Royal Darwin Hospital. She remains in a serious but stable condition.

The 20-year-old female driver and her 54-year-old front seat passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital where they were treated and later discharged.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
