A 23 year old female has been flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital following a single vehicle accident that occurred just after 5pm yesterday afternoon, just outside of Alice Springs.

It is alleged that the vehicle was travelling west along Namatjira Drive when the driver has swerved into the east bound lane, to avoid an animal.

The vehicle has left the road causing it to roll multiple times and causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

The female was taken to Alice Springs hospital by St Johns Ambulance however was later flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Investigations are continuing.
