At approximately 10.20 pm last night Police, Fire and St Johns personnel attended the scene of a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Amy Johnson and McMillan's road.

A blue Ford sedan had failed to negotiate the intersection and collided with the traffic lights at the intersection, launching the vehicle into trees where it burst into flames.

The two occupants a 26-year-old male and his 40-year-old passenger were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The Territory Duty Superintendent said, "Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors and both occupants are extremely lucky to have escaped serious injury or death".
