Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault which occurred in Tennant Creek last night.

A 36-year-old woman told police she was walking along Paterson Street around 9.15pm last night when she was followed by a man who then physically and sexually assaulted her behind the Mobil Service Station.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the offender and anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident should phone police on 131 444.
