A 27-year-old man will face court after he allegedly assaulted a woman and deprived her of her liberty over a three-day period in Tennant Creek last weekend.

On Wednesday January 14 police received a report of an assault at a town camp. The 30-year-old female victim told police she had been assaulted by her former boyfriend over a period of several days. She said the man had forced her into a car as she was walking along Peko Road on Friday morning. The man then allegedly took her to his home at Dump Camp where he repeatedly sexually assaulted and beat her over the next three days.

She fled the camp on Sunday and returned to her home at Village Camp. The woman said she was again assaulted by the man and his girlfriend when they came to her camp on Tuesday. The incidents were reported to police on Wednesday and the alleged offenders were arrested a short time later.

The man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, numerous counts of sexual assault and aggravated assault. He has been remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today. (Friday, January 16).

The 27-year-old female offender has been charged with aggravated assault and has also been remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
