Police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old male in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in a remote community.

It is alleged that the 22-year-old sexually assaulted a 12-year-old female youth on Friday 23 January.

The male was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
