A 16-year-old male has been arrested following an alleged sexual assault in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Police received a report from a 24-year-old woman that she was sexually assaulted near Adelaide House in the Todd Mall about 11pm on Saturday night.

Police arrested the alleged offender on Sunday and he was remanded in custody to appear in the Youth Justice Court today.

He has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent and aggravated assault.
