Serious Crash – Howard Springs - 4426734

Police

Police were patrolling the area when they sighted the vehicle upside down approximately 30 metres off the right hand side of the road.

It appears as if the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, which has then landed on him.

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service and St John Ambulance attended the scene, lifted the vehicle to remove the man and conveyed him to hospital.

Earlier in the evening, police manning a Random Breath Test Station on Lambrick Avenue, Palmerston, sighted a vehicle heading from the Stuart Highway executing a U-turn, possibly to avoid the RBT station.

They conducted a search of the area and later located the Mercedes on Gunn Point Road.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

Investigations into the exact cause of the crash and the circumstances surrounding it are ongoing. Further details will be provided when available.

Anyone who may have witnessed a dark sedan speeding along Howard Springs Road is being urged to contact Police on 131 444.

Operation RAID continues to remove all impaired drivers in an attempt to prevent crashes like this from occurring.
