Schools vandalised –Alice Springs- 4269299 & 4269625

Police

Two schools were targeted by vandals in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Police received a report just after 8.30am on Saturday that the Gillen Primary School in Milner Road had been unlawfully entered. Offenders entered the complex after forcing a roller door on the school canteen. They then proceeded to activate a fire extinguisher and spread paint throughout the premises.

Then just before 10pm on Saturday police received a report of security alarms being activated at the Alice Springs High School.

Police said it appears thieves smashed a rear glass door with a rubbish bin, enabling them to access the premises. Several internal glass doors were also smashed and some property was stolen from the music room. A laptop computer and a guitar appear to be among the property stolen. The laptop has since been recovered.

A police forensic crew attended both scenes and police are calling on anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
