Police are calling for witnesses following an assault on a 14-year-old boy in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Police received a report from the victim that he was assaulted in Gap Road just before 12.30am on Sunday morning.

The boy told police he was walking along Gap Road towards Parke Crescent with two 13-year-old female friends when they were approached by three youths. One of the offenders asked the victim for money and when he said he had none the boy was punched to the face and fell to the ground. The group then continued to punch and kick him and during the assault one of the offenders took his wallet containing $10 from his pocket. They then demanded his mobile phone which the victim then handed over.

The boy told police his three assailants were of Aboriginal appearance with one wearing a white hooded jacket, while another wore a yellow t-shirt. The third male was wearing dark clothing. Two of the offenders fled on mountain bikes with the third riding on one of the handle bars.
