Police

Police are investigating an incident in which a man was assaulted and robbed in Alice Springs overnight.

Police received a report that a 48-year-old man was walking home along Warburton Street around 3am this morning when he was approached by a group of up to seven youths. He told police they threatened him with a knife and assaulted him before stealing his wallet and mobile phone. They then fled and the victim went home and was later taken to hospital. The victim was treated for cuts and bruises to the head and arm.

The offenders are described as being males aged in their mid to late teens and of Aboriginal appearance.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
