Road train crash – Jabiru

Police

It is alleged that a road train carrying live cattle, believed to have been heading to Mataranka, was approximately 70km's East of Pine Creek and travelling West on the Kakadu Highway, when the rear trailer struck a culvert, causing the trailer to overturn.

Police and Kakadu's Mary River rangers attended the scene, subsequently having to destroy a number of cattle that were injured in the crash.

The highway had to be blocked for several hours as the animals and trailer were removed from the road. Police continue to urge drivers to take care in the area as the clean up continues.
