Police locked down the city last night conducting high profile Random Breath Testing Stations on Tiger Brennan Drive, Dinah Beach Road, Stuart Highway and Duke Street in Stuart Park between the hours of 5.00 pm and 1.00 am this morning.
As a result of the blitz the following results were recorded:

Five Traffic Infringement Notices for exceed .05 percent (low range)
Six summons issued for exceed .08 percent (medium range)
Two arrests for exceed .08 percent (high range)
Two possible drug impaired motorists pending further forensic tests
Three Traffic Infringement Notices
One hooning offence and vehicle impounded
One weapons offence (sword)
"The aim of this operation is to remove all impaired drives from our roads by both deterrence and detection through significant increase in random breath testing, drug testing and high visibility patrols, "said Territory Duty Superintendent Mike Murphy.
"Police worked hard throughout the operation and in doing so hopefully sent a message home to other would-be drivers contemplating getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"We will continue these operations to remove impaired drivers - the very people that increase the risk of trauma and death on Territory roads."
