Police

A 46-year-old male has been arrested and charged in relation to a pursuit that occurred yesterday through Parap, Winnellie and ending in Stuart Park.

It is alleged that at about 10.30 a.m. the 46-year-old was riding a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and failed to stop at the direction of police. Several police units pursued the motorcycle and subsequently police terminated the pursuit as it posed a risk to the rider and the general public.

A short time after the termination of the pursuit, police attended at a location in Stuart Park where the male fell from the motorcycle after crashing into a fence.

He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment and was later charged with:

Ride at a speed dangerous to the public > 45kmh
Ride in a manner dangerous to the public
Not obey red and yellow traffic light directions
Not signal intentions to turn
Possess a dangerous drug (amphetamine)
Possess a dangerous drug (cannabis)
Possess registration plates calculated to deceive
Ride unlicensed
Ride unregistered motor vehicle
Ride uninsured motor vehicle
Fail to obey a direction of Police
Resist Police in execution of duty

He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for the possession of a trafficable quantity of dangerous drugs.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court 16 March.

His motor bike has been seized under the Criminal Property Forfeiture Act.
