A 46-year-old man is in police custody following a pursuit that occurred this morning through Parap, Winnellie and ceasing in Stuart Park.

At about 10.30 the man was riding a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and failed to stop at the direction of police. Several police units pursued the motorcycle and subsequently police terminated the pursuit as it posed a risk to the rider and the general public.

A short time after the termination of the pursuit, police attended at a location in Stuart Park where the motorcycle crashed into a meshed fence causing the rider to fall off. The rider was taken into custody and conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
